Can You Buy Glasses Online With Astigmatism?

Yes, many astigmatism prescriptions can be filled online. The important check is whether the retailer can make your complete prescription in the frame and lens option you want. If your prescription includes cylinder (CYL) and axis, both belong in the lens order. A frame style, lens coating or “non-prescription” option cannot replace those values.

At Eyeisland, the current ordering flow has separate fields for CYL and AXIS. You do not need to find a frame named “astigmatism glasses.” Start with the prescription, browse full-rim eyeglasses, then check the fit and available lens combination.

Where is the astigmatism correction on your prescription?

CYL describes the cylinder power; AXIS specifies its orientation. Keep the values with the correct eye: OD is your right eye, and OS is your left. Copy the plus or minus sign as well as the number. If the prescription is unclear, ask the prescriber for a readable copy rather than trying to interpret the handwriting.

A sphere (SPH) value of PL, plano or 0.00 means there is no spherical power for that eye. It does not cancel a CYL value written in the same row. If cylinder and axis are prescribed, do not choose non-prescription lenses just because SPH is zero.

Use an eyeglasses prescription, not a contact lens prescription. For other labels, including ADD or prism, see Eyeisland’s prescription-entry guide.

How the Eyeisland order flow handles CYL and AXIS

On a product page, choose “Select Lens (With Prescription)”. The flow asks for the prescription type, lens type, thickness and options before the prescription-entry step. Choose the lens design prescribed for your needs; having astigmatism alone is not a reason to select progressive lenses.

In the prescription step, SPH, CYL and AXIS appear separately for each eye. CYL is labeled optional because it is not present on every prescription—not because you should omit a prescribed correction. The current form also offers one-PD and two-PD options and a prescription-upload area. These interface details were checked on October 28, 2026.

Check What should match before you pay?
Right and left eyes Each eye keeps its own SPH, CYL and AXIS values.
CYL The exact prescribed number and its plus or minus sign.
AXIS The prescribed orientation for that eye whenever cylinder correction is present.
PD Your measured pupillary distance, entered as one or two values in the matching format.
Final combination The selected frame, prescription, lens design, material and complete price.

If a required value is missing from the selector, stop and ask Eyeisland to confirm the order. Do not round it, change its sign or substitute a value that the form accepts. If your prescription uses a different notation, have the prescriber or retailer clarify it.

Choose the frame for fit, then check the lenses

There is no single frame shape that makes every astigmatism prescription suitable for online ordering. Compare the bridge, overall width and temple length with glasses that already fit you. Our frame-size guide explains why the numbers on the arm do not tell the whole story.

For a concrete starting point, Nomad Round Eyeglasses is a full-rim option listed at 49–22–148 mm for lens width, bridge and temple length, with a 139 mm overall width. Those dimensions help you compare fit; they do not establish that Nomad is suitable for your individual prescription. Send the exact product link with your prescription if you need that confirmed.

Lens index is a separate material choice. A higher index is not a substitute for including CYL and AXIS, and the highest available number is not automatically the right choice. If thickness is a concern, compare the lens-index options in the context of your full prescription and selected frame.

When to get help before ordering

Get confirmation first if the form cannot accommodate your prescription, you are unsure about any field, or your eye-care professional has recommended particular fitting or lens requirements. A website’s general prescription offering does not guarantee every combination.

If your vision has changed, your prescription is expired, or you have persistent discomfort or an eye-health concern, consult a qualified eye-care professional before ordering.

Ready to make a shortlist? Browse full-rim eyeglasses, compare the measurements, and keep your complete prescription beside you while selecting lenses. Before paying, review the final lens price and the current shipping and return terms for your order.
