High Myopia Glasses FAQs

What type of frames are best for high myopia?

Compact full-rim frames are often a practical choice for strong prescriptions. A smaller lens shape can reduce the distance between the pupil and the lens edge, which may help control visible edge thickness and overall lens weight. Round, oval, and softly squared frames usually work well. Final suitability depends on your prescription, pupillary distance, and frame measurements.

Should I choose 1.67 or 1.74 high-index lenses?

For many strong prescriptions, 1.67 high-index lenses offer a practical balance of thickness, weight, optical performance, and price.

For very strong prescriptions, 1.74 lenses may further reduce edge thickness in some frame and prescription combinations. Because 1.74 lenses are not available through our standard online ordering options, they require a manual review and custom order.

Choose your frame and upload your complete prescription. If 1.74 lenses may be appropriate, contact our support team for availability and a custom quote.

Can I order glasses online with a −8.00 or stronger prescription?

Many strong prescriptions can be made online, but compatibility must be checked using the complete prescription—not the sphere value alone. Cylinder, axis, pupillary distance, lens type, and frame dimensions also matter. For prescriptions of approximately −8.00 or stronger, we recommend uploading a current prescription so our team can verify the selected frame and lens options before production.

Will these frames make my high-myopia lenses completely thin?

No frame can guarantee completely thin lenses. Finished edge thickness is affected by prescription strength, astigmatism, lens index, pupillary distance, frame size, frame shape, and lens positioning. The frames in this collection were selected for their compact lens dimensions and full-rim construction, which can help manage thickness and conceal more of the lens edge compared with many oversized styles.

What happens if the frame I choose is not suitable for my prescription?

If the selected frame and prescription are not a suitable combination, our team will contact you before production. We may recommend a smaller frame, a different lens material, or another available option based on your measurements and prescription. To help us review the order accurately, please provide a current prescription and correct pupillary distance when ordering.
